Book designed and hand-printed by George Kirkpatrick, using inkjet on bockingford paper.
It is a collection on five complete alphabets found naturally occurring on pebbles and stones from British beaches which have been collected over several years by George and his wife Gillian Tait. They have been photographed as found without any alterations.
The binding replicates the idea of a collection of polished pebbles lying on a beach, the pebbles being in bas-relief and covered in scraps of multi-coloured leathers. Contained in a protective box (above), title tooled gold on spine.
A selection of images of the alphabet formations from the text of the book (below).
